We understand there are many things to think about when planning your move.
Below please find answers to some common questions.
What other types of assistance may residents receive?
In addition to our full range of services, including fine dining, 24/7 recreation and 24/7 on-site nursing, Heather Heights nurses assist with individual residents' needs such as oxygen management, nebulizer treatments, and diabetic care. Nurses can assist with blood glucose monitoring and insulin injections. Diabetic diet selections are available, and daily exercise classes and programs are offered. Aides provide personal care such as bathing and dressing.
Is Heather Heights licensed by New York State?
Yes, our residence is licensed and inspected by the New York State Department of Health. Department of Health regulated Assisted Living residences provide assistance with all activities of daily living, including: three meals per day; personal care services such as bathing, dressing, and grooming; medication management; recreational programming; transportation to appointments; 24-hour supervision for any emergencies or care needs. Although not required by the Department of Health, Heather Heights has Licensed Professional Nurses on-site 24/7.
Can my loved one continue to see their own doctor?
Yes, residents have the choice of keeping their personal physician or being referred to the in- house or local physician.
How will my loved one get to appointments outside the residence?
We offer scheduled transportation service for weekday doctor’s appointments free of charge.
Can we bring our own furniture?
Yes, our rooms are fully-furnished; however, we encourage residents to bring their own furniture and favorite belongings.
What are the visiting hours?
You can visit your loved one at any time. If you’d like to visit between 9pm and 6am, while our doors are locked for the safety of our residents, simply call ahead and a manager will meet you upon your arrival.
Can I take my loved one out of the building?
Yes. Trips off-site with family members are encouraged. We simply ask that you check with your Nurses Station and take all appropriate medication with you for the length of time your loved one will be gone. Residents and guests are required to sign in and out at the reception desk.
Will my loved one lose his/her independence?
On the contrary – we recognize that each of our residents have individual needs. At Heather Heights we promote resident independence and provide an environment that encourages this to the level of each individual resident.
How much does it cost?
We understand the pressure families are under to make a well-informed decision about how to choose the right residence for their loved ones. Please give us a call and we will carefully help you figure it out.
I never had to worry about my dad during his stay, I knew he was well taken care of and there was no request too big or small. The staff, nurses, kitchen and laundry staff were amazing. I would recommend this facility to everyone who is looking for a loving, fun comforting place for their parent/family member!!
